Fair Sharing
Division is when we take a big group and split it into smaller, equal groups!
The Sharing Rules
Rule 1: Be Fair! Every group must have the same number of items.
Rule 2: The Symbols. We use the ÷ symbol.
6 ÷ 2 = 3 means "6 split into 2 groups gives 3 in each group."
6 ÷ 2 = 3 means "6 split into 2 groups gives 3 in each group."
Rule 3: Check with Multiplication.
If 6 ÷ 2 = 3, then 2 x 3 = 6!
If 6 ÷ 2 = 3, then 2 x 3 = 6!
